What happens at the first session?

At the first session, you will be able to discuss in detail some of the presenting issues or symptoms that brought you to therapy. You can also tell us about your expectations for therapy and set goals for yourself. Also you will be afforded an opportunity to help your clinician get to know you better. If for some reason you do not feel that your clinician is a good fit for you, we have multiple clinicians or working relationships with several local psychotherapists with whom I can refer you to. *Please note that all sessions are virtual with audio and video.

Is what we discuss confidential?

Everything discussed in session is confidential; no information will be disclosed without your written consent. There are some exceptions required by law to this rule that include:
• Suspected child abuse or dependent adult or elder abuse, for which mental health providers are required by law to report this to the appropriate authorities immediately.
• If a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another person(s), your clinician must notify the police and the intended victim.
• If a client intends to harm himself or herself, your clinician will make a collaborative effort to ensure safety. However if an individual is unable to contract for safety or cooperate, mental health providers are able to ensure safety without patient permission.

What if I have to cancel my appointment?

All cancellations require 24 hours notice. If an individual cancels without 24 hours notice, you will be billed a cancellation fee of $60 (this fee is your responsibility -- your insurance company does NOT cover this fee). This fee may be waived is in the event of an illness or emergency.
